The July/August 2016 issue of Glass Worldwide Magazine features a Supplier Focus on PaneraTech, Inc. The article highlights the history and development of PaneraTech from its early days at the Ohio State University ElectroScience Laboratory to the world class engineering team that today inhabits its own independent research center in the Washington, D.C. area.

Diverse Experience Leads to Innovative Technology

The story explains the key role of PaneraTech’s engineers in the development of SmartMelter® solution. This innovative group of researchers includes five Ph.D.’s who are well-known for their work on advanced radar technology in areas as diverse as military operations and the medical field.  For example, the Furnace Tomography Sensor (FTS) determines the presence of glass infiltration into  insulation using similar techniques as those used in early brain tumor detection. Defense applications that have been used to determine if an aircraft is friendly are similar to those used by the Refractory Thickness Sensor (RTS) to identify if a measurement represents thickness to the glass interface or cracks and voids.

Valuable Industry Partnerships

Glass Worldwide Magazine also explains PaneraTech’s close relationship to glass industry by involving customers early in the process of research and development. This includes a valuable partnership with Libbey Glass  and Owens-Illinois, and active involvement in industry events, such as the annual Conference on Glass Problems and GlassTrend meetings. This September, PaneraTech will be exhibiting its SmartMelter® solution at Glasstec 2016 in Düsseldorf (15E31).
